Green Season final week in-the-box

Well, this is the end of green season for 2021. Hopefully you have been enjoying it; there were a couple of major victories in the garden this year, the biggest being new carrots. In order to get them ready in time it was necessary to put heat into a bed inside the greenhouse; the outside carrots are very slow to sprout this time of year, and take up to 12 weeks to be reasonably sized. The mistake with the carrots is that they are filled a bed that the Tomatoes are wanting in. The other good thing has been snap peas grown in the greenhouse. The yield from the vines is just now peaking, they look great.

Lots of Snap Peas!

Cabbage and Swiss Chard did well also; the Spinach was pretty nice. Lettuce continues to have a transition challenge from that raised in the greenhouse to that raised outside. There are two full triple 80′ beds coming on fast, the baby lettuce the last three weeks is finally getting some size to it. Cabbage heads are wrapping up this week, maybe some the following. That said, main season starts a week from tomorrow, and it looks good so far.

You should be getting a test email from the ‘in the box’ for main season mail list this week yet. There will also be a single mail to the members of the main season to refresh what the farm records say about your membership – delivery or farm call, full or personal share, and your payment status. There are a lot of good things coming, and all you green season members are on the list to continue. Once again, thank you for your participation.
