Winter Season week 2

Crazy week here – furnace (heat pump) gave up the ghost and has been out now for oh way too long – which means keeping the house warm took over some of the garden work that was scheduled. All that aside – the really really nice weather after the nasty wind and rain have made a difference already – not so that you can see it in the box this week, probably, but definitely can be seen.
bunny called an Uber – Gator…
it does seem that this is the time of year when rodents including rabbits become a continuous project. Thursday I found the live trap had taken yet another bunny. The rule of thumb is to load the rabbit up in the gator, and head back to the woods. That was fine, till we got back there and found a lake.
This lake brought to you courtesy of Shilo Beaver!
which was a gift from the beavers… so. after wading across the ‘lake’ with bunny, releasing it into the woods to play hide and seek with the coyotes – it was time to pull a hole in the beaver dam. All was well till the head on the pull hook came off. In the dam. In the water. These boots are drying because, well, I slipped off the dam and filled them. That puddle on the deck was inside the boot.
Water was other places besides in the boots.
Now, all of this is a lame excuse for why there aren’t thrilling pictures of the veggies. This week will be quite similar to last week – couple of small heads of red cabbage, Mustard, Arugula, a couple of green onions, Kale (small leaf, tender and sweet) and probably a couple leaves of Chard. I did not check the radishes and japanese salad turnips, but they are getting close. There are some big bulb onions out there, I will check and see if they want to come be in soup.
Hopefully the trays of seedlings can get set out this week – there are some very nice looking greens on the way. Four more weeks of winter season!
